Opinion: Community support needed for MSUB pantry


“Listen, kid, it’s all part of building character. The struggle will make you a better person. Stronger, more appreciative.”

Sound familiar? It’s lovely, isn’t it, that we can call something as pernicious as starvation “character building”? The “back in my day” proposition is feeding the stereotype of the struggling college student who must ingest ungodly amounts of sodium in order to get by, and only marginally at best. MSU Billings-Rocky ROTC program has benefit dinner


For the seventh year in a row, cadets in the Montana State University Billings-Rocky Mountain College ROTC are hosting a dinner to benefit the program. The dinner, which will include a silent auction, live auction, dessert auction and raffle, is set for Friday, Feb. 9, at the Radisson Hotel. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to support the Stars N Stripes Wrestling program for kids, which is coached by military veterans; the rest will help fund the ROTC program. Coal Board OKs $500,000 for MSUB science building


The Montana Coal Board has voted to award $500,000 toward the completion of the new Yellowstone Science and Allied Health Building on the campus of Montana State University Billings. The Coal Board, which happened to be meeting on the MSU Billings campus Thursday, voted to approve the full $500,000 requested by the school. It was the largest of nine requests totaling more than $1.4 million on the board’s agenda. (more…) Continue Reading →
