A day in the sun for Run for Life participants

To the hundreds of participants in Saturday’s Run for Life Run/Walk, it may have felt a bit like July, when the annual Relay for Life of Yellowstone County comes around.

But unseasonable heat for the fourth annual Run for Life didn’t seem to bother the crowd, estimated at more than 400. The run raises funds for the Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society. The 2017 event is July 7 at the Billings West High School track.

The courses for the 10K, 5K and one-mile events all started and ended at Rimrock GMC Cadillac, which sponsors the fundraiser.

The route for 10K and 5K runners and walkers took them through the Shiloh Conservation Area, where volunteers provided encouragement and directions to keep everyone on track as they circled ponds in the 66-acre wetlands.
